New Worlds: Writing for Young Adults Workshop with Joan Lennon
Wed 18 Oct 2017 to Sun 22 Oct 2017
In this 90-minute session, you will hear about Joan’s writing process, and produce and share new work of your own. Part of Dundee Literary Festival 2017
Joan Lennon is a Canadian Scot who lives and writes in the Kingdom of Fife, just across the bridge from Dundee. She is currently the Royal Literary Fellow for the University of Dundee, supporting students across all disciplines. Her books have travelled the world and been translated into numerous languages. Joan’s novel Silver Skin, described as ‘a sci-fi fantasy historical adventure romance’, was shortlisted for the Scottish Teenage Book Prize 2017, and her most recent YA novel Walking Mountain came out in June this year.

Green Pencil Award 2017 Is Launched!

Friday the 1st of September marked the official launch day of this year's Green Pencil Award.*  Pupils from Abbeyhill Primary School came to the Holyrood Park Education Centre to find out about the annual writing competition and to do some writing with me on this year's theme: "Edinburgh's Natural Heritage".  Here are some of the participants -



Verdict for the day from a pupil - "That was fun!"  My verdict - "What a bunch of good writers!"  A great start to a great competition.
